keynote speaker

Robert Wilder knows what it’s like to stand in front of the room. He does it every day with the toughest crowd there is: teenagers. As an award-winning teacher and best-selling author, he enjoys the opportunity to address an audience. Whether it’s a roomful of book publishers on the topic of re-introducing possibility to the Mipod generation, 300 educators on the story of how his brother left teaching to become a turtle at Disney World, or a sold out crowd at the Texas Book Festival, Robert Wilder knows how blend humor and insight into a hilarious and poignant presentation.

Author of two critically acclaimed books, Daddy Needs a Drink and Tales From the Teachers’ Lounge, Robert Wilder has the ability and passion to address parents, teachers, book-lovers, and professionals on topics ranging from serious parenting with a sense of humor to why we lose fifty percent of new teachers in theirs first three years in the classroom. Wilder has been a keynote speaker for Scholastic’s CEO Roundtable, BP’s A+ for Education Program, the Wyoming Heritage Foundation, and many other companies and groups.

He has been a contributor to NPR’s Morning Edition and a frequent guest on national and regional radio programs including his Daddy Needs a Drink Minute which airs weekly on KBAC FM. He has published fiction and nonfiction in Newsweek, Details, Salon, Parenting, Creative Nonfiction, Working Mother and elsewhere. His column, Daddy Needs a Drink, appears monthly in the Santa Fe Reporter.
